Help us raise £10,000 with our Big Give Campaign.
Welsh Women’s Aid has been selected to participate in the Big Give Women and Girls Match Fund this year!
Every donation made up to £5,000 between 12 noon on 10th October and 12 noon on 17th October 2024 will be doubled.
Domestic abuse, sexual harassment, coercive control, rape, forced marriage, sexual exploitation… These are frightening issues to read about. They are even more terrifying to experience. They can affect anybody – at any income level or age, and in any home, workplace, or community setting. There is no typical survivor.
Welsh Women’s Aid works hard to prevent violence from happening in the first place. When it does, it’s our job to make sure that survivors can access safe and effective support.
But it’s hard to help when we are facing significant challenges of our own. Historical underfunding; fierce competition for grants; increasing demand for support; and staff leaving the sector for better paid, less demanding work, are all huge issues.
Some of our services are at risk. We have been forced to make redundancies this year and we are under pressure as we deliver our activities with a reduced staff team.
It is survivors of violence – who need and deserve a robust and quality support system – who will ultimately lose.
Ending violence against women is everybody’s business. Will you make it your business today and get your donation doubled?
Reaching our campaign target of £10,000 could, for example:
- Keep our Survivor Network running for 5 months – vital in amplifying survivor voices and creating change.
- Help us deliver 40 training hours to communities, schools and universities – spreading awareness, encouraging prevention, and ensuring access to support.
- Give 20 frontline support services access to the information and support they need to provide effective, high-quality, and trauma-informed services.
- Represent the issues affecting survivors and services, by supporting our strategic policy work.
