Following a competitive application process, Welsh Women’s Aid has been selected to take part in the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2022, starting from 12pm on Tuesday 29th November and ending at 12pm on Tuesday 6th December.
Donate from 12pm on 29th November to have your donation doubled!
Tuesday 29th November is Giving Tuesday, is a global day that encourages people to do good and give back in whatever ways they can.
It’s also the start of our Big Give Christmas challenge, which runs right in the middle of the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign that we’re also taking part in.
The global theme for this year’s 16 Days campaign is ‘UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls’, and we’ll be sharing all the work we have been doing at Welsh Women’s Aid to end this violence and encourage more activism to help us in this mission.
You can help by taking donating what you can to our Big Give campaign. By giving a feminist gift a little early this Christmas, your donation will be doubled, and your support of our Survivor Network will go even further.
Every penny raised in this campaign will allow us to work with our Survivor Network and the work they’re doing in their communities – more information about that work is on our website. They’re doing incredible work in their communities, and their wellbeing is key, so it’s really important that we can raise money and awareness of this work and have wellbeing opportunities for all.
This campaign has been made possible by our generous match funders: Swansea Unite (Energy and Services Branch) and Monday Charitable Trust. Thanks to them we have an enormous sum of £5,000 in match funds available. That means that for every £10 you donate, we receive £20!
We’ve been busy co-producing some campaign videos and photos with some of the Survivor Network, with the videos a chance for them to share their experiences of being part of the Network and what wellbeing means to them as a survivor directly. We’ll be sharing these throughout our campaign – so keep an eye out on our socials!
More information can be found on our website and campaign page where you will be able to donate (look out for when it goes live at 12pm on Tuesday 29th November).
How to get involved
The campaign week runs from midday on Tuesday 29th November, which is Giving Tuesday, the International Day of Charity, until midday Tuesday 6th December and donations made during this period will be doubled whilst our match funds last.
Donate when our campaign goes live
Only donations made to our campaign page between 12pm on Tuesday 29th November and midday on Tuesday 6th December will count towards our target and be doubled, so please make sure you only donate through the links shared and by the end date to have your donation matched!
Share our campaign
A great way to get involved with our campaign is to talk about it to your friends, families, colleagues, and anyone else you can think of! Sharing our campaign, particularly our campaign video and our campaign page (when they go live on 29/11!) on social media or by email is a great option to get involved virtually. To start with, you could sign up to our supporter newsletter and connect with us on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so you don’t miss any important updates.
Do it your way!
We are more than happy to offer support to anyone who wants to organise their own fundraiser with donations going towards Welsh Women’s Aid’s campaign through our campaign page. You could organise a wear a Christmas jumper day, set up a coffee morning or even hold a bake sale from the beginning of the campaign until 12pm on Tuesday 6th December. Any money raised will need to be donated through our campaign page from 29th November to 12pm on 6th December before the page closes, so please get in touch with the fundraising team if you’re planning any fundraising – – anything raised through JustGiving, or our Fundraising Hub won’t count!
All money raised in the Big Give Christmas Challenge will go towards supporting our Survivor Network and their wellbeing. Help us support more survivors and improve the wellbeing of our Survivor Network.
