Purpose of the course

Ask Me is a community focused scheme and aims to help us identify what we can do as individuals to help end abuse, rather than informing how we should respond as an employee.

Whilst you are welcome to use anything you learn in your workplace or career as appropriate, Ask Me is not intended to give you the skills to hold any particular job role and is not intended as an endorsement or demonstration of competency to employers.

If your employer is letting you do this course in work time, it is important that you are both aware that Ask Me does not replace or supercede any workplace training you may be required to do as part of your job e.g. “Ask and Act” for public sector employees, workplace Domestic Abuse awareness training, safeguarding training etc.

I understand that Ask Me does not replace any statutory or workplace training I may be required to complete *

We recognise that many of our attendees may have personal experiences of abuse and welcome the valuable contribution survivors can make. However, this course may not be safe for people currently experiencing abuse or for survivors who may need support for their own experiences first.

We will look at everyone’s situation individually but in the above circumstances, we will need to chat with you first so that we can all agree what feels safest for everyone. *
