On Saturday the 14th of December, WWA hosted a Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® march through central Cardiff. The march was a great success, gaining support from Assembly Members and members of the public, who donned a pair of high heels to raise awareness of the causes and effects of male violence against women.

Children Matter were recently nominated for a Children and Young People Now Award, with the ceremony taking place on the 27th of November. Unfortunately the team didn’t win, but were give the ‘Highly Commended’ prize for the work undertaken with children and young people in Wales.

Welsh Women’s Aid is pleased to see the Welsh Government’s attempts to mitigate the effects of poverty on education, but we are concerned that children and young people who experience domestic abuse may be overlooked in this important discussion.

Minister for Local Government and Communities Carl Sargeant today (Monday 26 November) launched a White Paper for consultation on the Welsh Government’s legislative proposals aimed at ending violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence in Wales.
