PRESS RELEASE

‘All Wales Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Helpline’ changes name to ‘Live Fear Free Helpline’

The Welsh Government and Welsh Women’s Aid have today relaunched the Live Fear Free Helpline: providing advice on violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence.

The Live Fear Free Helpline is the successor to the Welsh Government funded ‘All Wales Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence Helpline’ provided by Welsh Women’s Aid since its launch in 2004.

Welsh Women’s Aid has been working for nearly four decades to support survivors to achieve independence and freedom from abuse. The newly named Live Fear Free Helpline will continue to be available to support victims experiencing violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence, whilst continuing to provide 24-hour confidential and gender responsive help and support in Wales for those experiencing abuse, concerned others and professionals in need of help or support. Women, children and men across Wales will continue to have a main point of contact to access support, information, safety-planning, advocacy, refuge and counselling services.  Friends, family or colleagues who are concerned about someone’s safety and well-being will also be able to call for advice and support.

Eleri Butler, Chief Executive of Welsh Women’s Aid said:

“We are delighted to continue to deliver the relaunched Live Fear Free Helpline under its new name. The Helpline offers a 24-hour 365-days a year lifeline for victims and survivors of abuse, professionals, and anyone with concerns about themselves or others. Our team of specialist, trained support workers are fully equipped to provide advice, support and access to local services that best meets survivors’ needs.”
