The UK Government is implementing an emergency alert system.
All compatible smartphones will be able to receive an emergency alert in instances where there is a danger to life in the area you’re located, for instance flooding or public health emergencies. You will receive an emergency alert even if your phone is on silent or ‘do not disturb’.
The emergency alert will play a loud alarm noise and present a push notification to the user.
This alert system is expected to be tested sometime in the near future, so it is important to take action now, rather than later.
